Who the world actually watched.
Every stats site can tell you who played well. Databall tells you who the world is paying attention to — one comparable number across every league, every sport, measured the same way since 2015.
Attention is its own scoreboard
Performance and fame are related, but they are not the same thing. A player can be statistically elite and quietly under-watched; another can be a cultural phenomenon whose box score undersells the room they command. Sports media measures the first thing obsessively and the second thing barely at all.
Databall started from a simple question: is there a single, honest signal for how much attention an athlete, team, or league commands — one that works the same for an NBA guard, a Formula 1 driver, and a Premier League striker?
A universal unit for attention
It turns out there is a close one: how often people look someone up. Daily Wikipedia pageviews are global, consistent, and comparable across every sport on earth — a neutral proxy for “who is the world curious about right now.” We've tracked them the same way since 2015, then layered on social reach, market value, and on-field impact.
From that we build the Q Score — a single number that blends achievement, attention, and the difficulty of the league an athlete competes in, so a hockey enforcer and a tennis No. 1 can finally sit on the same leaderboard. See exactly how the numbers are built →
Attention is a leading indicator
The crowd usually moves before the vote does. Search interest spikes before an MVP is announced, before a transfer is confirmed, before a rookie becomes a household name. Read attention well and you can see the story arriving — which is why Databall is as useful to a front office or an agency as it is to a fan.
Every sport, every market, every angle
Databall is expanding outward — more leagues, the places that produce and host the talent (cities, countries, and origins), the agencies that represent it, and the media that amplifies it. The goal is one map of global sporting attention, and a set of tools to explore it from any direction.
